How to Take Care of Yourself During Stress

Stress is a part of life, where stress is defined as a response to daily situations. Stress is something that we all go through, like traffic, children crying, or meeting deadlines. However, when stress goes beyond a simple, everyday situation, it can have severe effects on our mind, body and life. Let's take a look at some ways you can handle stress in a healthy way.

The first step is to acknowledge the stress that is currently happening. It's important to figure out the main stress in the front of your mind. This can help to ease tension in your mind and body. When you ignore what is stressing you, your body has no way to release the stress.

Once you acknowledge the most stressful part of your life, now it's time to explore ways to reduce stress or think of solutions. The main idea is that there is a solution for every problem. Even if the solution seems hard, break the solution into small steps to make it manageable.

After exploring solutions, check your physical health. Check to see if you're eating healthily, like drinking water, eating fruits and vegetables, and eating three meals a day. Also, check on your sleep and if you have interrupted 6-8 hours of sleep at night. If you're having problems with sleep, make sure you limit technology at night, and limit late night snacking.

These previously mentioned tips all connect with self-care. Many people think that self-care is going to a spa or vacation. These activities are great ways to take care of yourself. However, they are events that take place periodically. Self-care is actually based on what you do on a regular basis, either daily or weekly. Self-care is the best care, where your health habits are key to managing and reducing stress.

Self-care has become a catchphrase in current times and mainly during a crisis. However, what if we added healthy self-care habits to our daily lives to respond to crisis and stress and achieve balance? Adding a self-care habit of getting proper sleep gives you the right energy and brain function to get through your day. Another habit of eating 3 fresh fruits a day makes your body feel well with proper nutrients for energy to function throughout the day.

These tips are great ways to release stress. When you feel upset, grab an apple or bottle of water. Go for a walk when angry to clear your mind. The key to stress management is to take care of yourself so your body does not feel the negative effects of stress. Physical health is a great way to respond to stress along with problem solving.

Remember you are in charge of your mind and body in all circumstances. Mind over matter is key.
